WASHINGTON: Minister for trade, industry and cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde has flagged off a 70-tonne consignment of anti-retroviral drugs worth USD4 million to Namibia. The ARVS manufactured in Uganda by CIPLA quality chemicals in Uganda is the largest export order of pharmaceuticals by an East African manufacturer.
Kyambadde encouraged the manufacturers to maintain quality if Uganda is to tap into the continental market. CIPLA Uganda’s chief executive officer said the company intended to be the leading manufacturer in East Africa and the continent.
