Almost €250,000 worth of drugs seized in intelligence-led operation

DUBLIN: Three men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of €240,000 worth of drugs.

Two separate discoveries of herbal cannabis – a total of 12kg – were made in Co Tipperary earlier today.

The seizures were made as part of an intelligence-led operation between Customs officials, the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Roscrea Divisional Drugs Unit.

Three men of Lithuanian nationality were arrested at an address in Roscrea when a package of drugs with an estimated street value of €140,000 was found.

It is understood that the drugs has come from Spain.

The men – one aged in his late teens and other two aged in their mid 20s – were arrested at the scene.

In a follow up search at another address in Roscrea a package containing 5kg of herbal cannabis was seized with an estimated street value of €100,000.

The men have been detained at Nenagh Garda Station under the provisions of section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
