OGDCL paid Rs 230b royalty to provinces in 15 years

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) has made payments of around Rs 229.733 billion on account of oil and gas royalty to the provinces during last 15 years, official sources said Sunday.

“OGDCL has paid around Rs 229,733 million royalty to Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces from financial year 2001-02 to 2015-16,” they told APP.

Giving break-up, they informed that the company paid Rs 124.558 billion to Sindh, Rs 35.244 billion to Punjab, Rs 19.645 billion to Balochistan and Rs 50.327 billion to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the corresponding period.

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources has recently directed all provinces to submit detailed reports with regard to distribution of the royalty among oil and gas producing districts. The body has also asked the provincial energy departments to furnish reports on gas theft incidents and their strategy to prevent them.
