ANKARA: Turkish steel imports from China has increased drastically during the first two months of this year mainly on a unprecedented jump in semis imports. According to Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD), Turkey has imported 461,000 tons of steel products from China during the first two months of this year, an increase of 18.5% as compared to 389,000 tons a year early.
Turkish imports of semis shot up by 770% year-on-year to 260,000 tonnes during January to February of this year, while steel flat imports declined drastically by 64% to 94,000 tons. Turkish total steel imports gained by 23% year-on-year to 3.03 million tons during the first two months of this year.
