Kazakhstan increases wheat exports by 10%

ASTANA: In February 2016 Kazakhstan exported 57% more wheat than in February 2015. During the first half of the season wheat exports from Kazakhstan reached 2.012 MMT that was 10% higher than exports during the same period last season (1.825 MMT).

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan remain the main importers of Kazakh wheat in the current season. Such countries as Iran, Afghanistan and China continue to increase wheat purchases from Kazakhstan. In addition, Turkey has also increased imports.

During the first half of this season Turkey imported 41.1 KMT of Kazakh wheat that was 26% higher than purchases during the entire last season (32.7 KMT). Azerbaijan as well as EU countries reduced imports due to increase of their own wheat production in 2015/16 MY.
