ANF arrests 8 drug peddlers, seizes narcotics worth Rs 6.1m

ISLAMABAD: On second day of ongoing anti-drug drive, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested eight drug peddlers, while striking at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta, resulting in recovery of 130,800 heroin-doses and 10,000 hashish-doses, having street value of Rs 6.1 million, along with seizure of 1 vehicle.

Since 13 April i.e. start of anti-drug drive, so far ANF has conducted 28 operations, while recovering drugs worth Rs 17.3 million and arresting 31 drug suppliers to youth and educational institutions.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 180 gram heroin and 1.2 Kg charas from a local drug peddler, who was held near NUST, Kashmir Highway, Islamabad. He was involved in distribution of drugs to the students of NUST.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a drug peddler from Pirwadhai, Rawalpindi and recovered 200 gram charas from his possession. Yet in another operation, a local drug supplier was taken into custody from main Bazar, Attock along with 1.2 Kg charas. As per reports, he was involved in supply of drugs to the students of the different colleges at Attock City.

The ANF Lahore team while acting on source information intercepted a shipment at the office of Lahore based courier company and recovered 900 gram heroin concealed inside thermoses. The shipment was intended for dispatched to Canada.

The ANF Karachi in an operation carried out in Chakra Goth and Korangi, Karachi detaining 2 local drug pushers, identified as Muhammad Anees and Muhammad Saeed along with 700 gram charas, which was found in their personal possession. The ANF also conducted many other raid during the said period.

It is pertinent to mention that current anti drug drive is mainly focused on educational institutions to protect our youth from evils of deadly drugs. All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are underway.
