Customs earns Rs 180m on import of 561 vehicles during July-October

KARACHI: During the first four months of the current fiscal year ended October 31, 561 vehicles were imported into the country.

Rs 180 million customs duty was paid on these vehicles which had a cumulative value of over Rs 571 million.

Statistics provided to Customs Today show that 435 used vans were imported during the period. The total value of these vans, imported under the Personal Baggage Scheme, added up to over Rs 408.6 million on which Rs 127 million customs duty was paid. In addition, 66 new vans were also imported the total value of which added to over Rs 81.5 million on which over Rs 16.3 million customs duty was paid.

Forty used pickups were also imported. A cumulative customs duty of over Rs 31.9 million was paid on them, which had a total value of over Rs 72.13 million.

Statistics compiled by the All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association also show that two new trucks valued over Rs 1.9 million were also imported and Rs 0.575 million customs duty was paid on them. Eighteen used motorcycles/scooters were imported under the Transfer of Residence Scheme. The total value of them was over Rs 7.193 million and a cumulative customs duty of over Rs 4.676 million was paid on them.
