Customs Adjudication serves notice on black tea smuggler

ISLAMABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Kaukab Farooq has issued show cause notice to unknown accused person involved in smuggling of 189 kilogram of black tea.

The deputy collector issued notice under Section 180 of the Customs Act, 1969 and fixed April 26 as hearing date, besides directing the accused person to appear before the court on same day.

According to the notice, Customs Preventive Superintendent Zargam Dil received information regarding the smuggling of black tea through a bus No 3014 from Peshawar. The superintendent intercepted the bus near Tarnol GT Road and checked it which led to the recovery of the black tea.

No one claimed the ownership of the recovered item on the spot; therefore it was enough to believe that tea was bring into country through illegal means. The officials confiscated the tea and sent seizure report to the adjudication for further action. Now, the adjudication has served a notice on the unknown smuggler.
