DC Obaidullah directs to release consignment of skimmed milk after payment of duty, taxes

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Obaidullah Khan has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in the seizure case of foreign origin skimmed milk (Indian origin) along with Toyota Hiace bearing registration no LZR-2421.

After hearing the case, he order to release the skimmed milk on the payment of leviable duty and taxes and penalty of 30 percent of  total value. According to the brief facts of the case, Superintendent, Customs Preventive received information through the  Assistant Collector Customs Preventive that skimmed milk powder  would be smuggled from Attock by a Toyota Hiace Van bearing registration NoLZR-2421.

A raiding party of the Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive) Division Islamabad stopped a vehicle near Toll Plaza Hazro and asked the owner and driver of the vehicle, identified as Rashid Mehmood s/o Khalid Mehmood and Usman Waheed s/o Abdul Waheedand, to produce any evidence, showing legal import of the skimmed milk, but they failed.

There were reasons to believe that the recovered item had been brought into country illegally. The customs team seized the milk and sent the case to Customs adjudication.However, Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Obaidullah Khan ordered to release skimmed milk after payment of leviable duty and taxes and imposed 30 percent penalty.
