PCG seizes huge cache of hashish worth Rs 1.4b near Pasni

KARACHI: The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCGs) in its recent action has recovered and seized 900 kilogram of hashish from an oil tanker during snap checking at “Baddukh” check-post near Pasni border. The estimated cost of the seized hashish is Rs1.4 billion in international market.

According to details, Director General PCG Attique-ur-Rehman received a secret information that smuggling of huge consignment of hashish would be conducted through Baddukh check post near Pasni.

Reacting upon the information, the DG PCG asked the Commander Pasni to ensure strict surveillance and checking at Baddukh check post in order to foil any attempt of smuggling.

In the light of the orders passed by the DG PCG, the Commander Pasni was ensured strict vigilance at the check post and during the snap checking of an oil tanker, the coast guards recovered around 900 kilograms hashish concealed in the secret cavities of the oil tanker. The PCG authorities arrested two persons and started investigation.

A PCG spokesman claimed that the seized consignment of hashish was being transported to Gwadar from Karachi for onward supply to Middle East countries. The PCG spokesman further said that the Director General PCG Brigadier Atique-ur- Rehman has applauded the efforts of PCG officers who were deputed at Baddukh Border and also announced reward for the team which took part in the raid.

It is pertinent to mention here that the PCG through its effective strategy against the smuggling of contraband items has already achieved a remarkable success as during the last three to four months, the PCG has seized contraband items, including hashish, opium and others, worth millions of rupees.
