Deputy Collector Ubaidullah directs to realese cloth after payment of duty, taxes, fine

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Adjudication (Headquarters) Ubaidullah has directed to release seized foreign origin cigarettes and cloth on payment of duty and taxes.

According to details, Superintendent Customs Preventive Zargham Dil received information that that foreign origin  cloth and cigarettes would be smuggled from Peshawar by wagon bearing registration No Peshawar-RPT 4725  .

To check the veracity of aforesaid the information, a raiding party of Customs set up a check post at Toll Plaza Attock. A detailed search of the said vehicle led to the recovery of foreign origin cloth and cigarettes. Customs team asked the accused persons who was identified themselves as Noorurr Rehman son of Mailk Said Ahemd and Muhammad Nazir son of Saman Khan, Maqbool Ali son of Mughal Baz. Waseem son of Mughal Baz.Aitabar Gul son of Shezad Gul  and  on demand, they failed to produce any evidence documentary or otherwise, showing legal import or lawful possession of the recovered foreign origin cloth and cigarettes.

Customs team seized the goods and forward the case to customs adjudication for further proceedings. During proceedings  the respondents appealed to customs adjudication that they are ready to pay duty / taxes. After considering their petition deputy collector adjudication directed to release seize goods after payment of duty, taxes and 30 percent penalty.
