Gujranwala Excise recovers Rs 240m token fees from auto rickshaws, vehicles

SIALKOT: The Excise and Taxation Department, Gujranwala, has recovered Rs 240 million from the token tax defaulters of auto rickshaws and commercial vehicles.

The excise has started a crackdown against auto rickshaws and commercial vehicles to recover Rs 320 million token tax fees. Excise and Taxation Director Rao Shakeel-Ur-Rehman constituted teams consisting of Inspectors Rana Gulzar, Amjad Buttar, Munir Iqbal, Malik Riaz Awan, Akram Awan, Chaudhary Shabbir, Naeem Ahmed, Manzoor Khan and others.

The teams will have to recovers Rs 80 million until June 30, 2016 in order to achieve the target of Rs 320 million.

According to Director Shakeel, the excise collected Rs 500 token as tax fee per annum from auto rickshaw. He added that about 12,000 rickshaw and so many commercial vehicles were playing on roads without payment of token tax.
