Customs Preventive foils smuggling of heroin at Karachi airport

KARACHI: The Customs Preventive foiled a drug smuggling attempt and seized heroin worth millions of rupees, besides arresting an accused person.

According to the details, Customs Preventive Jinnah international Airport Karachi Additional Collector Feroz Alam Junejo and Deputy Collector Amjad Aman Laghri hold an important press conference regarding seizure of heroin powder at international departures.

The officials informed that alleged drug smuggler wanted to smuggle a huge quantity of heroin to a foreign country. The accused was intercepted by the customs officials deputed at the Karachi airport on suspicions and recovered heroin from his luggage.

Earlier in another action, the Customs Preventive staff posted at airport’s departure while keeping surveillance on outgoing passengers to abroad, arrested a passenger and recovered prohibited chemical from his possession.

The passenger named Raees Khan wanted to smuggle prohibited chemical to Saudi Arabi. The officials recovered 550 grams prohibited chemical, amphetamine worth Rs 5.5 million which was cleverly concealed in his suitcase.
