Additional Collector Saima Aftab declares seizure of Hino truck legal

FAISALABAD: Additional Collector Saima Aftab has declared seizure of Hino Ranger Truck as legal according to the Customs Act 1969.

According to details, the customs Field Intelligence Unit Khushab team intercepted a Hino truck near Mainwali Toll Plaza. The customs staff asked the driver who was identified as Nabi Gul son of Haji Razi Gul to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle. But he failed to produce any documents regarding legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle. After his failure, the customs team seized the non-duty paid truck and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication.

During the proceedings of the case, no one appeared to defend the case from respondent side nor any written reply has been received from the respondent despite giving ample opportunities to be heard. During scrutiny of documents , FSL Islamabad confirmed that present chassis number of the vehicle is not original. Muhammad Saleem intelligence officer appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the seized vehicle fall under the ambit of section 2(s) of the customs act 1969.

After scrutinizing whole case Additional Collector Saima Aftab issued Order in Original (ONO)  in favor of Customs Intelligence and declared the seizure of smuggled items under section 156(1)90 of the customs act 1969 as legal.
