Belarus’ import of merchandise, services 12.3% down in Q1 2016

MINSK: In Q1 2016 Belarus reduced the import of merchandise and services by 12.3% from the same period of last year to $6,348.7 million, BelTA learned from the statistics data published on the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus. In Q1 2016 Belarus’ foreign trade totaled $12,689.3 million, 14.5% down from Q1 2015. Belarus’ export amounted to $6,340.6 million (16.7% down), with import down by 12.3% to $6,348.7 million.

The foreign trade deficit reached $8.1 million. Belarus’ foreign merchandise trade dropped by 16.9% to $10,401.2 million. Merchandise export shrank by 19.8% to $4,921 million, with import down by 14.1% to $5,480.2 million. The deficit of foreign merchandise trade totaled $559.2 million.

The surplus of Belarus’ foreign trade in services reached $551.1 million, 10.4% down from Q1 2015. Belarus’ foreign trade in services reached $2,288.1 million, 98.1% as against January-March 2015. Belarus exported $1,419.6 million worth of services (96.4%), with import at $868.5 million (101.2%).
