ISLAMABAD: Road infrastructure and development sectors in the federal capital are among the top priorities of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The CDA has launched several development projects of immense importance across the city simultaneously, during the current financial year to mark it as “The year of development”.
CDA would not only complete development projects within the given time frame but also launch more mega projects to further facilitate the residents of the federal capital. These views were expressed by the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Maroof Afzal during a high level meeting, which he chaired here at CDA Headquarters on Thursday.
On this occasion, Member Administration, Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering, Member Environment and senior officers of the concerned formations of the Authority were also present. The meeting reviewed progress of all ongoing development activities in the city.
CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal was apprised that development work in Sector D-12 is in the final stages, while construction work on dualization of both service roads (East and North) in Sector E-11 has been commenced. He was informed that construction work on both the service roads leading to Sector D-12 was initiated during the last month.
Estimated cost of roads was Rs 249.00 million but construction work would be completed at the cost of Rs 178.00 million as the tender was awarded 28 percent less than the NIT cost. Total length of the dualized service road is more than four kilometre, while the second lane of the service road is 24 feet wide.
Initially, the service roads consist of single lane, however, keeping in view the increasing traffic burden and rapid construction activities by the allottees of Sector D-12, both the service roads are being dualized on war footing.
The project would be completed within a period of nine months. The Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal was further informed that funds amounting to Rs 75.00 million were allocated during the current financial year, while the remaining funds would be allocated during the next financial year.
Maroof Afzal directed Member Engineering to complete the project within due time with no compromise over quality and standard. He also directed Member Environment for sapling of trees and colourful flowers on both sides of the service roads to carry out landscaping of median strips between roads.
Maroof directed Member Engineering for submission of weekly progress report about the construction of Service Road (East and North) in Sector E-11 and ensure uninterrupted development work.
