Sara-e-Muhajir ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 3.3m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sara-e-Muhajir has confiscated a huge quantity of smuggled items during different crackdowns. The market value of the seized items is Rs 3.3 million involving customs duty and taxes Rs 358,950.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan received information about some smuggling attempts. He formed a team which intercepted a container loaded bearing registration no. TLM-885 near Asif Pulli M.M Road district Bhakkar and recovered  a huge quantity of Lotrene polyethylene (Muntajat) 200 kgs made in Qatar, toner for computer printer (31- carton), made in China, pineapple slices in heavy syrup in Polac brand 900 kgs, made in Thiland, perfumed liquid hand soap, and other goods.

The ASO team asked the driver Pervaiz Akhtar son of Ghulam Nabi to produce legal documents regarding possession of the items, but he failed to provide any relevant documents. After his failure, the ASO team seized huge quantity of smuggled items and non-duty paid trailer and forwarded the case to the customs adjudications for further proceedings.
