Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled items worth Rs 382m in April

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation conducting various operations against illegal trade and smuggling in all over the country confiscated contraband items worth Rs 382.5 million during April 2016.

The Customs Intelligence seized items, including foreign origin cloth, vehicles, tea, diesel, motor oil, cigarettes, electronics, auto parts, gutka, carpets and miscellaneous items during the said period.

The officials impounded 67 non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 145.7 million, besides impounding 33 offender vehicles worth Rs 57.7 million under Section 157 (K) of the Customs Act, 1969.

Other items, including 240,304 meter of cloth worth Rs 27 million, 310,510 litre diesel worth Rs 19.2 million, auto parts worth Rs 31.4 million, food grains worth Rs 3.6 million, tea worth Rs 2.7 million, electronics worth Rs 18.8 million and 10,745 cartons of cigarettes worth Rs 3.57 million were confiscated during th said period.
