WARSAW: Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on non-final data obtained from customs declarations, Intrastat reporting and VAT returns data, exports in March 2016 amounted to EUR 1 865.4 million, imports – EUR 2 094.2 million. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1 063.1 million. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 228.8 million.
Over the month (March 2016, against February), exports increased by 4.9, imports – 11.3%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of ferrous waste and scrap (16.2 times) and machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (8.6%), ground vehicles (12%). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of various chemical products (3 times), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (21.6%), machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (14.5%). Mineral products excluded, exports of products increased by 5.1, imports – 13%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 2.9%, mineral products excluded – 3%.
Over the year (March 2016, against March 2015), exports decreased by 0.6, imports – 1.6%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of fertilisers (40.6%) and petroleum products (17.6%). Due to a decrease in prices, exports of petroleum products decreased, although in terms of exported amount in tonnes, exports increased by 51.2%. The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports and price of natural gas (85.9%), as well as by a decrease in imports of edible fruit and nuts (45.9%). Mineral products excluded, exports of goods increased by 2.2, imports – 3.5%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 2%, mineral products excluded – 0.4%.
