DUBAI: The UK association gives the award to Dubai Customs on expression of Dubai Customs commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and creativity among staff. Dubai Customs has been crowned at the top of the world’s innovation and creativity realms upon winning the grand prize from Ideas UK Association for the year 2014; hence becoming the first government entity in the globe to receive this prestigious recognition.
Dubai Customs also secured the platinum level accreditation for implementing suggestions system. DC is the first government department of its kind to earn such accreditation worldwide for the fifth consecutive year, with a full score for two successive years.
Dubai Customs was awarded the “Grand Idea of the Year” award for its recent famous invention, Al-Kashif Vehicle – the first of its kind innovation in the Middle East and the whole world. The Al-Kashif idea has been adopted in many countries worldwide.
The awarding ceremony was held by Ideas UK Association and brought together several government and private organizations from around the globe, including 9 public and private institutions representing the UAE.
H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs , said: “The prestigious global award received by Dubai Customs from Ideas UK is an expression our commitment to nurturinga solid culture of innovation and creativity among our employees, so as to keep pace with the vision and aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, which drive us to ensure that ‘Innovation is a daily government practice and a firm corporate culture’ by meeting the goal set by His Highness in turning generation of ideas into an organizational process within all governmental departments.”
Ahmed Mahboob affirmed that DC will continue developing its award-winning Suggestions System, adding that “this will be among the organization’s top priorities for the next stage in order to increase efficacy of customs performance using employees’ creative ideas aiming to leverage our services and operations.”
The proceeds Dubai Customs generated from the implementation of staff suggestions between 2005 and the second half of 2014 amounted to almost AED 1 billion, following the application of as many as 1364 suggestions, he said.
