$14.16b foreign exchange received till March

ISLAMABAD: The country has received $14.16 billion worth of foreign exchange from overseas Pakistanis during the current fiscal year till March.

According to the data received to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development from State Bank of Pakistan, an amount of $1,884.27 million was sent by the human resource in United States from July 2015 till March 2016.

An amount of $1,758.55 million was sent by the overseas workers in United Kingdom while $4,337.11 million was sent by the workers in Saudi Arabia.

The remittances of $3,125.29 million were received from United Arab Emirates including $2,121.86 million from Dubai, $953.25 million from Abu Dhabi, $48.88 million from Sharjah and $1.30 million from others.

The workers in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries sent $1,711.67 million remittances to the country including $326.74 million from Bahrain, $544.03 million from Kuwait, $274.42 million from Qatar and $566.48 million from Oman.

The Pakistani workforce in European countries have sent remittances of $277.55 million to the country including $62.38 million from Germany, $22.22 million from France, $3.48 million from Netherlands and $37.03 million from Spain.

Among the other European countries, an amount of $28.12 million remittances were received from Italy, $4.78 million from Greece, $10.32 million from Sweden and $6.98 million from Denmark, $97.20 million from Ireland and $5.04 million from Belgium. The remittances worth $22.18 million received from workers in Norway, $17.02 million from Switzerland, $ 132.17 million from Australia, $115.33 million from Canada, $7.95 million from Japan.
