According to NAB here on Tuesday, the accused reported to its company through email that payment has been made to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for the said purpose and fraudulently/dishonestly attached a fake pay order as a proof of payment.

The NAB inquiry has revealed that no payment was made to PDMA by accused Ethesham Malik, rather he misappropriated the same, hence committed an offence of corruption and corrupt practices as defined in section 9 (a) of NAO, 1999.

The accused was arrested and physical custody was granted to NAB. The accused, prior to authorisation of investigation, voluntarily came forward and submitted an application and offered to voluntary return his liability determined by NAB.

The liability of accused was determined as Rs 23,578,459 and accused agreed to return total liability, thereby the competent authority has accepted his voluntary return. The accused has paid Rs 8,016,676 as down payment through Pay Order and has furnished security for remaining amount to be paid as per schedule.
