SHC moved against deduction of income tax from salary

KARACHI: A senior medical officer of the Lyari Government Hospital Karachi, Dr Imdadullah, has approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) against monthly deduction of huge amount in wake of income tax from his salary.

Citing Sindh chief secretary, Health Department secretary, Sindh Accountant General Sindh and Karachi Regional Tax Office-III chief commissioner as respondents, the petitioner stated that the Accountant General is deducting a huge amount of income tax per month without any authority/ jurisdiction from petitioner’s salary. There is no any liability of income tax on civil servants, he said.

The petitioner added that on August 03, 2015, the petitioner approached the chief commissioner concerned but he did not respond. The petitioner said that there is no any kind of income tax levied on Sindh civil servant, which is being deducted by the AG Sindh illegally, forcibly and without any jurisdiction.

He pleaded the SHC may direct the Accountant General to stop the deduction of income tax from the monthly pay of the petitioner with immediate effect.
