Customs foils attempt to smuggle cellular phone worth Rs 2m

KARACHI: Customs officers have foiled a bid to smuggle cellular phones worth Rs 2 million at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

According to the details, on tip-off received through Deputy Collector Customs Amjed Aman, a customs team checked a passenger, Muhammad Haneef, and recovered 198 cellular phones from him.

The passenger had arrived from Dubai by Emirates flight No EK 608. On the arrival, the customs officer nabbed him and recovered 198 valuable cellular phones.

The officers of the customs have taken the custody of the offender Muhammad Haneef by the court whereas an FIR has also been lodged against the said passenger. The customs officers have also started the interrogations from the said offender.
