SHC directs customs authorities to release consignment of M/s Perwaiz Trading

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the customs authorities to release the consignment of “AC disk fog type 80 know porcelain hood shape suspension insulator” on the way of pay order/ bank guarantee on a constitution petition filed by M/s Perwaiz Trading Corporation (private) Limited. A two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was hearing the petition.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel stated that the petitioner imported a consignment of ” AC disk fog type 80 know porcelain hood shape suspension insulator ” from China. The item is normally imported by Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) ,K-Electric and all power utilities companies.

According to the petitioner, after all the requirements, petitioner filed goods declaration at the rate of $9.6039/per kilogram. However, officials of the respondents raised the duty up to $2.00/ per kilograms without assigning any justified reason.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that another consignment of the petitioner has now arrived at the port and the respondents have refused to allow its release.

Citing secretary Revenue division, Collector of Customs West, Director General of Valuation, Director Directorate of  Valuation as respondents petitioner pleaded the SHC may order to release the consignments.
