ISLAMABAD: Customs staff deputed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport seized 336 mobile phones from the possession of a passenger who was arrived from Dubai. Customs Intelligence and Prosecution team under the supervision of Superintendent Sargham Dil started investigations of the case.
According to sources of Customs Today, Deputy Collector Naghma Tehniat received secret information that an attempt will be made to smuggle huge quantity of mobile phones through Emirates flight. She altered the staff which enhance surveilliance measures. During checking process customs team interceptd a passenger who was identified as Amjad Javed and recoverd 336 moible phones from his bag.
Custom staf seized the mobiles and arrested the accused person. Customs authorities will present the accused in Customs Court on Tuesday (today) to obtain his physical remand.
Customs team also recovered some boarding cards of Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad airports from the possession of the accused which means that he also used to travel through from these airports. He also revealed during investigations that he was going to deliver these mobile phones to another person, while the owner of these mobile phones offered him to pay Rs500 per mobile phone. He said that owner of the mobile phone already running a shop in Mobile Market of Rawalpindi and his name is Kamran.
