ISLAMABAD: The Customs Appellate Tribunal on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of two customs references until May 31, besides issuing warnings to parties concerned on not attending the hearings.

A single bench of the tribunal comprising Technical Member Muhammad Nasir Khan remarked that if the parties would not join the tribunal’s proceedings on the next date, the cases would be dismissed for non-prosecution (DNP).

Appellants, Zaman Ul Haq and M/s Indus Laboratory did not appear before the tribunal to attend the hearing of the cases, which they had filed against the Model Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad. Appellants in all of the said cases had challenged the decisions of the collectorte before the tribunal.

It is pertinent to mention that a single-member bench comprising Nasir Khan was hearing the cases in the absence of tribunal’s chairman.

Parties involved did not appear before the tribunal even on the last hearing. Taking notice of the absence, the bench then had adjourned hearing but today it had issued warning regarding absence of parties involved.
