Dar chairs meeting with FBR to finalize budget proposal of income tax

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting at the FBR and held detailed discussion with senior officials over finalization of budget proposals encompassing the sphere of income tax. Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan was also present in meeting.

FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan on the occasion gave an update on the state of revenue collection till date and said it exhibited a positive trend and that target of revenue collection for the current year would be met. The meeting also had discussion on matters relating to withholding tax and the future course of action to be adopted in this respect.

The minister expressed satisfaction on the exercise being undertaken by the whole FBR team for finalizing proposals for budget 2016-17. He expressed the hope that measures suggested for the upcoming budget would strengthen government’s efforts for all inclusive growth. He emphasized completion of FBR’s budget related exercise at the earliest. Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and FBR attended the meeting.
