Customs Court extends judicial remand of mobile phones, LEDs smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved 14 days judicial remand of an alleged mobile phones and LEDs’ smuggler.

According to the details, accused Khuram Shahzad was booked by the Sialkot Customs Intelligence following the recovery of hundreds of mobile phones and LED TVs worth Rs 3.5 million from his possession.

Sources said that accused was a professional smuggler and has a nexus of smuggling in Lahore, Sialkot, Rawalpindi and Peshawar to transport his smuggled goods safely from tribal areas to big cities of the Punjab.

Earlier he was in custody of Customs Investigation and Prosecution for interrogation. The Customs Investigation and Prosecution registered a case against him under Section 2, (s), 16, 139, 157(1), and 178 of the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969.
