Prices of petroleum products likely to increase by 9.22%

ISLAMABAD: The prices of petroleum products are likely to be increased from June 1 as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has recommended up to 9.22 percent hike in the prices of petroleum products.

According to the summary, the Ogra has proposed an increase of 1.32 percent or Rs 0.85 per litre in the price of petrol. An increase of 9.22 percent or Rs 6.69 per litre in the price of high speed diesel, hike of 9.17 percent or Rs 3.77 per litre in kerosene and increase of 2.99 percent or Rs 2.18 per litre in high octane blended oil (HOBC) has been suggested.

The new petroleum prices will be announced after consultation with the prime minister. The new prices will be effective from June 1, 2016.

If the prices, recommended by Ogra, are approved, the petrol will be selling at Rs65.12 per litre, high speed diesel will be selling to Rs 79.21 and kerosene oil will be sold at Rs 47.22 per litre. Similarly, the new increased price of high octane will be Rs74.86 per litre. Ogra has also requested an increase of Rs4.47 per litre for light diesel oil.
