SEOUL: South Korea’s crude oil imports in May fell 6.1 percent from a year earlier to 90.7 million barrels, preliminary data from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy showed on Wednesday.
Final data will be released later in the month by state-run Korea National Oil Corp (KNOC).
Details of preliminary imports and previous actual figuresare as follows: (in millions of barrels) the imports of crude oil in May 2016 90.7, April 20168 9.7 and in the May 2015 96.6 percent.
The ministry did not break down imports by country of origin. South Korea’s total crude imports in April rose 14 percent year-on-year, according to KNOC data last month.
