While several economic reports missed expectations, investors said they were still consistent with an economic recovery in the U.S.
Improving U.S. economic data and upbeat corporate earnings have helped propel U.S. stocks to a series of record highs in recent weeks. Data released this week showed the U.S. economy grew at a pace of 3.9% in the third quarter, higher than the initial estimate of 3.5%. The growth rate in the second and third quarters combined marked the best six-month pace since the second half of 2003.
