Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 10.0143m

FAISALABAD: In different anti-smuggling activities, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled items worth Rs 10.0143 million involving duty taxes amounting to Rs 8.7 million during the last week of May 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence conducted various anti-smuggling operations on the instructions of Additional Director Azmat Tahira . These operations were conducted in Sargodha, Khushab, and Faisalabad.

The customs team impounded non-duty paid truck bearing Registration No, E-9067 (Peshawar) worth Rs 8 milion.

The teams also successfully confiscated smuggled goods including, Indian red chillis seeds (301 bags), and non-duty paid cigerretes (250 cartons), Apple bottle pack (fruit juice), frooti mango drink worth Rs 84,25000 involving customs duty taxes Rs 7,685,285.

The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab confiscated Iranian dates worth Rs 24,4000 involving duty Rs 12,2500.  All the owners of the above said goods failed to provide any relevant documents regarding possession of these goods. After their failure customs team seized the items and forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication for necessary action.
