KIEV: In April 2016 sunflower meal exports from Ukraine reached 288.2 KMT against 325.4 KMT in March 2016 and 274.5 KMT in April 2015. Since the beginning of season 2015/16 (September-April) Ukraine supplied 2235.3 KMT of sunflower meal to foreign markets compared with 2053.3 KMT during season 2014/15. That was a record high for the specified period for the last five seasons.
There were no significant changes in sunmeal export destinations in the current season. EU countries remained the largest importers taking more than 50% of total exports, Belarus – 16.5%, Turkey – 7.2%. Growth in sunflower meal exports happened due to both increased volume of sunflower seed crushing over the last five seasons in Ukraine, and decreased demand for sunflower meal in the domestic market.
