Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) Zahid Khokhar terms heroin seizures cases in short span of time “a whistle-blowing for security agencies

KARACHI: The Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) Muhammad Zahid Khokhar has termed the recent seizures of large quantity of Heroin, a “whistle-blowing” for the authorities concerned and security agencies.

Talking to Customs Today exclusively, the Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) Muhammad Zahid Khokhar hinted that there are some weaknesses in the system which must be rectified timely in order to curb smuggling of contraband items through air.

Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) further said that the Model Customs Collectorate-MCC (Preventive) of Pakistan Customs in the limited resources has done the tremendous efforts in connection with foiling smuggling of around 29Kilogram of heroin powder worth millions of rupees to the foreign countries.

Responding to a query, the Chief Collector Zahid Khokhar said that the weaknesses should be rectified by installing cameras at hangers where the aero planes and flights of national carrier stand.

Zahid Khokhar further said that the catering and toileteers vehicles, which carrying products to the flights should also be checked properly by the authorities concerned of the security agencies.

Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) further said that the authorities concerned of security agencies including Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Airport Security Force (ASF) should make proper arrangements to install cameras at hangers, so that strict vigilance should be kept on illegal activities.

“It is a cause of great concern as it would be the embarrassing moment, if the heroin would be recovered and seized from national- flag carrier at any foreign country”, Chief Collector added.

Responding to a query, the Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) Zahid Khokhar said that the authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs are continuing the investigation into the cases in which around 29 kilogram of heroin powder was being recovered in last few days.
