Pakistan becomes member of OECD’s global forum on transparency

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has become a member of Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax, a branch of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

After becoming the member of this organisation, the way to be the member of OECD is paved now. Almost 134 countries are the member of the global forum for tax, while only 34 countries are the member of OECD. India, China, US, Britain, European Union and Central Asian States are also members of the forum.

The global forum would establish a portal for automatic exchange of information in current fiscal year, which will help all the 134 members to get information about the taxpayers electronically. The members of the OECD have also agreed on bringing transparency in information-sharing process.

It may mention here that a delegation of Pakistani officials is also going to Oslo to discuss the issues regarding the membership of the OECD.
