LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has approved two days physical remand of an accused who was arrested by the customs authorities from Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore while making attempt to smuggle huge amount of foreign currency.
Customs make foiled attempt to smuggle foreign currency worth Rs81 million from Allama Iqbal International Airport. Sources said that the customs authorities intercepted an Omani citizen Nasir Saeed Al Khroosi and found 50,000 UAE dirham and 25,000 Omani riyals during the interrogation of accused luggage. He was traveling from Lahore to Muscat on flight no.344.
According to Pakistani law, only $10,000 or any other foreign currency can be taken by an international passenger while travelling out of Pakistan. In said case the amount is more than the allowed, it would be considered as money laundering.
On Thursday Customs investigation team produced him before the court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan and asked for the physical remand to investigate from the accrued that the court has approved for two days.
