Peshawar Customs shows outstanding performance by collecting Rs 1,483.73m in May

PESHAWAR: The Customs Collectorate Peshawar has collected Rs 1,483.73 million in May 2016 against previous year’s collection of Rs 1,329.62 million.

According to information from the statistical section of the Customs House, Rs 577.10 million were collected in May 2016 under the head of customs duty while the total collection in May last year was Rs 492.34 million.

In term of sales tax on import, the house collected Rs 351.31 million against the previous year figure of Rs 376.03 million. The difference in rupees was recorded minus Rs 24.77 million while the difference in percentage was recorded minus 6.59 percent.

In head of sales tax levied as federal excise duty on palm oil the Customs House collected Rs183.96 million in May 2016 against previous May 2015 being recorded as Rs 176.70 million. The total difference in percentage in this section was recorded 4.11 percent while the difference is Rs 7.26 million.

In head of federal excise duty on import the custom collectorate collected Rs20.02 million in May 2016 against the previous year of 2015 which was Rs21.84 million. The difference in rupees was recorded minus Rs 1.82 million while the difference in percentage was minus 8.33 percent.

In term of withholding tax the house collected Rs 304.61 million against the previous year Rs 214.22 million for May 2015. The difference in rupees was noticed Rs 89.60 million while the difference in percentage was recorded 41.83 percent.

The performance of the house for the month of April 2016 was far better as compare to May 2015 in the previous financial year as handsome revenue generated in head of various duties.

The total collection figures are Rs 1483.73 million against Rs 1329.62 million previous May 2015 .The total difference in percentage was recorded 11.59 percent while difference was Rs 154.11million.
