Macedonian GDP grows by 2 pct in Q1, 2016

SKOPJE: The growth rate of the gross domestic product (GDP) in Macedonia in the first quarter of 2016 was 2 percent, Macedonian State Statistical Office (SSO) said Friday.

According to the latest data of the SSO in this quarter, the biggest increase was recorded in sections of financial and insurance activities by 13.3 percent.

In the sections of professional, scientific and technical activities and administrative and support service activities by 11.7 percent, whereas in the section of construction by 7.7 percent.

In the first quarter of 2016, household final consumption, including nonprofit institutions serving households, increased by 3.2 percent in nominal terms, and its share in the GDP structure was 64.3 percent.

Meanwhile, in the same period, export of goods and services increased by 12.6 percent in nominal terms, whereas import of goods and services increased by 7.4 percent.
