BUDAPEST: A 30 billion forint (EUR 96m) economic development scheme for ethnic Hungarians living in western Ukraine was signed here the other day.
Hungarian deputy foreign ministry state secretary Levente Magyar and László Brenzovics, president of the KMKSZ federation and Ukrainian lawmaker, signed the accord in Berehove (Beregszász). The programme will be launched this year.
An important condition for the survival of the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia is that people who are ready to work should have the right tools to do so, he said. Based on this recognition, Hungary’s government decided to launch a better loan scheme for Hungarian farmers, entrepreneurs and companies than any similar one in the past, he added.
