Customs-Exports recovers Rs 9.11m from two companies involved in tax evasion

KARACHI: The Customs-Exports has recovered an amount of Rs 9.11 million from two companies in Karachi during a special recovery campaign.

Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of their import documents it was revealed that both companies were involved in tax evasion. The special recovery cell of the Customs-Export recovered Rs 3.4million from Ghafoor Enterprises and Rs 6.7 million from Lala Gee and Sons. It is necessary to mention here that Customs authorities issued them final notice to clear outstanding tax amount. The tax authorities also warned them that stern action will be taken against them if they will fail to clear the dues.

After receiving the notice both companies requested tax authorities to grant them some time to clear pending dues. Tax authorities granted them fifteen days time to clear the pending amount. After passage of given time both companies deposited their pending tax amount. Tax authorities are gearing up their efforts to collect more revenue before the end of current fiscal year.
