Customs to launch crackdown against smugglers of Iranian diesel

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Preventive and Customs Collectorate- Quetta has decided to form a joint strategy in order to bust the gangs and criminal elements, who are involved in smuggling and selling of Iranian diesel in the city.

Sources informed Customs Today that the customs authorities have received secret information that the Iranian diesel is being smuggled through Hub-Chowki by the criminal elements.

Following the information, the authorities concerned of Customs Preventive and Customs Quetta are agreed to react upon the information with full force and in this regard they have formulated a strategy in order to curb the smuggling of Irani diesel.

The sources further informed this scribe that the area police was patronizing the smugglers in supplying the Irani diesel into the city through Hub Chowki.

The sources further revealed that the area police are involved in taking Rs1500per oil tanker to pass through Hub-Chowki. The All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers’ Association has also raised its concern over the smuggling of Iranian diesel through Hub Cowki.

It is pertinent to mention here that billions of rupees loss is being faced by the government by smuggling of Iranian diesel into the country.

The All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers’ Association has demanded of the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to take immediate action in this regard so that the national exchequer could be saved.
