Collector Raja Tahir hears 6 cases involving Rs 35.7m duty, taxes

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed on Thursday heard six cases against suspects involved in smuggling of polyester staple fiber, foreign origin iron pipes seamless and Indian polyester cloth.

As per details, Zahid Jee Textile was charged for smuggling of polyester staple fiber worth Rs 10.32 million. Muhammad Aslam was allegedly involved in duty/taxes evasion to the tune of Rs 3.63 million on Indian polyester cloth, which was smuggled into the country through illegal route. Baz Muhammad was found involved in smuggling of foreign origin old and used iron pipes seamless of different diameters and length worth Rs 6.509 million.

Meanwhile, Raja Tahir Majeed heard case of Abdul Rasheed involved in evading tax amounting to Rs 6.067 million on the import of iron pipes seamless into the country without paying customs duty. He also heard the case filed against Najeebullah also involved in smuggling of iron pipes worth Rs 5.236 million. Furthermore, the collector also heard another cases involving Rs 4.019 million.

All these cases were forwarded by the Customs intelligence and investigation, Model Customs Collectorate and DTRE Branch.
