Sialkot Dry Port handles 224,230 ton cargo in first week of June

SIALKOT: The Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) handled 225,530 tons cargo during a week.

Official sources told Customs Today that the port handled 120,000 ton import and 15,530 ton export cargo during the week. The imports included scrap, leather material, stitching etc whereas footballs, surgical and musical instruments as well as gloves and leather garments were exported during the period.

According to a Customs Department official, imports and exports decrease during these months of because the cottage industry of Sialkot is purely seasonal industry whereas export from Sialkot reach peak from July to March and import also increase in these months.

Sources said that customs department is extending full support to exporters and due to this we are achieving fruitful results. He said that surgical and musical instruments as well as kitchen items exported from Sialkot in other months. He said that the exporters of Sialkot usually go  abroad to get orders for their export business in the off season. Sources said that the Sialkot is export oriented city and it is hub of export but the exporters of Sialkot are adopting latest export and import process,therefore, they are getting better results. Sources said it is very fruitful matter that the export and import are not decreasing at SDPT rather it is in much better position and this position.
