Customs Preventive seizes non-duty paid tyres, other items worth Rs 5 million

LAHORE: The Customs Preventive has seized tyres, tubes and other non-customs paid items worth millions of rupees.

As per details, the Customs Preventive seized smuggled tyres loaded on a truck which was coming from Quetta and arrested the driver. The value of the seized tyers was determined at Rs 5 million. It was said that driver Muhammad Sadiq, who is a resident of Balochistan, was bringing the tyres.

The tyres quantity was reported as 610.  The sources said that tyres were to be delivered to one Matiullah, a trader’s godown. It was said that the tyres were to be used for trucks Pajeros, and Land Cruisers.  It was reported that the tyres were hidden tactfully in each other.

The sources said that the customs authorities after registering an FIR has arrested driver Muhammad Sadiq and started further investigations.  Sources said that FIR against the accused party was registered on the directions of Collector of Customs Preventive Zulfiqar Younas.

Sources told Customs Today that the customs authorities Lahore on the directives of Collector Zulfiqar Younas have intensified vigilance on smuggling activities under the limits of his collctorate.

The sources said that the collector has instructed the customs authorities to adopt zero tolerance against the smugglers.
