Sialkot ASO seizes tyres, emery paper and air conditioner

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Zone-I recovered Iranian tyres, emery paper and air conditioner from a bus during checking on Grand Trunk (GT).

Reportedly, ASO incharge Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary deputed Inspector Sheikh Ikram to check vehicles on GT Road to curb smuggling.

The said inspector along with his team checked many vehicles. Meanwhile, the team intercepted a bus which was coming from Rawalpindi and going to Gujranwala. The team searched the bus and recovered 65 smuggled Iranian tyres, emery papers and an air conditioner worth Rs 500,000.

The team asked driver to show documents regarding the legal import of the items but he remained fail to do the same; therefore, the officials confiscated the items.

The team released driver after proper interrogation and shifted all items to Customs House to present to adjudication for proceedings.

Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary told Customs Today that the performance of all the three zones was satisfactory.

He said that the customs department was striving with limited resources and shortage of staff to curb smuggling.
