Customs Exports issues notices to recover Rs 6.9m

KARACHI: With the start of last month of current fiscal year, the Model Customs Collectorate Exports have expedited efforts to recover stuck up revenue, as notice have been issued to two companies for the recovery of Rs 6.9m

The Customs Exports issued final notice to Kashif Ahmad & Company, which is defaulter of Rs 4.55 million, besides serving tax notice on Ghafoor Traders directing him to pay outstanding taxes amounting to Rs 2.4 million along with Rs 227,000 fine.

Sources said that Kashif Ahmad & Company was earlier issued notices to pay outstanding taxes, adding that two notices were issued only in May but the company remained reluctant to pay the amount. Therefore, the customs issued final notice to it giving a time period of 7 days.

On the other hand, the customs had issued a notice to Ghafoor Traders almost 15 days ago but it did not file any reply, therefore, another notice has been issued in which the company has been asked to clear outstanding amount within 7 days. The company was also directed pay Rs 227,000 fine that has been imposed by the customs authorities in the case.

The sources said that department will take legal action against the companies if they could not deposit the said amount within 7 days.
