Oman share index remains flat

MUSCAT: The MSM30 Index remained little changed at 5,788.73 points, up 0.01 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index also stayed flat at 882.85 points. Bank Sohar was the most active in terms of volume and turnover. Ahli Bank remained the top gainer, up 3.45 per cent while Al Hassan Engineering was top loser, down 2.44 per cent.

A total number of 393 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR2.9 million with 13.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, five advanced, 16 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained net buyers for OMR175,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR29,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR204,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index advanced 0.23 per cent to close at 7,289.79 points. Ahli Bank and Al Anwar Holding gained 3.45 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investments, Al Sharqia Investments, Bank Muscat and NBO declined 1.61 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.03 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index ended at 7,263.90 points, down 0.07 per cent. Voltamp Energy and Galfar Engineering gained 1.42 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively. Al Hassan Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramics and Al Jazeera Steel decreased 2.44 per cent, 1.96 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively. Services Index retreated 0.35 per cent to close at 3,234.79 points. Shell Oman Marketing, up 1.88 per cent, was the only gainer. Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Services, Phoenix Power, National Gas and Renaissance Services declined 2.33 per cent, 2.24 per cent, 1.27 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.
