ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to take stern action against powerful smugglers who are involved in smuggling through Afghan Transit Trade (ATT).
Sources told Customs Today that most of Afghan refugees are also involved in the smuggling. On the other hand, some black sheep who belonged to police department are also involved in smuggling through ATT.

Sources said that Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation is finalizing a comprehensive strategy which will forwarded to government in near future. According to this plan FBR decided to take Pakistan Army on board to curb smuggling and arrest notorious smugglers who are involved in smuggling through Afghan Transit Trade.
All the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), Rangers, FC and other intelligence agencies will also extend their full support to FBR to control smuggling. Sources said that that notorious groups of smugglers headed by Afghan refugees namely Fawad Tora and Farhad Jawad Tora are superising all the smuggling.
Sources said that some groups which are residing in KPK, Quetta and Lahore also coordinating with them to complete their operations. Sources said that most of smugglers who belonged to above said areas are doing transport business but under the head of transport business they are doing business of smuggling. Lot of FIRs are already registered in different police stations of the country against these groups.
Sources said that Farhad Tawar is residing in Pir Wadhai colony of Rawalpindi and he is driving vehicles from last eight to ten years. Sources said that after finalzing list of notorious smugglers list FBR will take stern action against these smugglers and their names will also be forwarded to Pakistan Army, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies.
