KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate, Gwadar has confiscated 18,000 litres of Iranian diesel, oil tanker, drugs and liquor bottles worth Rs 8.6 million, besides arresting four suspects during two actions in Makola and Pisni.
As per details, Gwadar Customs Collector Saeed Akram received information regarding the smuggling activities in Makola city. He also got information about the dumping of Iranian diesel in the city and its smuggling to other cities in the garb of supply.
The collector following information directed the subordinates to establish check posts at every exit and entry point of the city. The anti-smuggling team intercepted various oil tankers at check posts for checking, meanwhile, another tanker was intercepted for checking of documents.
The officials asked the driver of oil tanker to show documents regarding the legal import of the diesel but he could not produce the same; therefore, the officials impounded the oil tanker along with diesel under the customs laws. The official said that the value of diesel and oil tankers has been estimated at Rs 6.1 million. The driver and another worker have been arrested during the raid.
Another team of anti-smuggling carried out an action on the same day and seized drugs and liquor bottles. The team was performing its routine duty at a check post in Pisni when it intercepted a van for checking, which led to the recovery of 200 bottles of foreign origin liquor and 10 kilogram of charas that was concealed beneath the seats.
Officials said that the liquor was brought into country through sea rout and going to supply to other cities. They added that two person have been arrested in the action, while a case has been registered against them.
They further informed that it was eighth big action against the drugs smuggling in running month. The value of drugs and liqueur estimated at Rs 2.5 million.
